Immaculate Conception Church, Salem, Massachusetts
Founded in 1825, Immaculate Conception was the very first Catholic Parish in Salem. The present Church, located on Hawthorne Boulevard, was originally constructed in 1857 and is the third oldest church in the Archdiocese of Boston. This renovation and addition project was the first significant work done to the Church since it was built and included the following:
- Restoration of all interior finishes in the main church, notably the altar and sanctuary areas
- Upgrading and replacement of the electrical system
- Addition of new handicap accessible entrance adjacent to the church parking lot, featuring a landscaped garden area bordering the new wheelchair accessible exterior walkway
- New oak flooring in place of carpeting
