Dracut Police Station, Dracut, Massachusetts
Situated in residential neighborhood and abutting wetlands, this project was challenging to construct both because of its complex structural design and unforeseen site conditions. After demolishing the existing building, DeIulis Brothers encountered unknown contaminated soils at the start of excavation, which delayed construction for approximately four months and resulted in an unplanned second winter construction season. The structural roof elements were supported by the masonry, therefore completion of the masonry shell was critical. DeIulis Brothers used its own forces to carry out the nearly $1M of masonry work and DeIulis’ carpenter crews completed the extensive foundation work, complex roof framing as well as all the interior finishes.
